About "Awesome"

We're a 7-member band from Seattle with music, visual art, sketch comedy, and collective self-deprecation in our DNA.

"They made a few self-effacing jokes, picked up their instruments... and proceeded to send the room into a state of shock. 'Awesome' weren't just tolerable, or even just good. They were f-cking great" ~ The Stranger

"Awesome" was founded in 2004 at Spin the Bottle, Annex Theater's monthly late-night cabaret. They started small, mostly haunting theaters and small clubs around Seattle while audiences tried to figure out what to do with them.

After a few years of not breaking up, they found themselves in various live and studio situations with Sean Nelson (Harvey Danger), Jon Auer (The Posies), and Reggie Watts.

They were the house band for Seattle alt-weekly The Stranger's live reading series, adding musical augmentation to literary luminaries Miranda July and Jonathan Safran Foer, among others.

Through strategic cancellation by another band, they even wound up on the mainstage at the 2008 Sasquatch! Music Festival.

"...a catchy, good-spirited show, well-suited to the size of the stage." ~ comfort radio.org*

"Awesome" has also produced and performed the theatrical stage shows "Delaware: A Subtle Spectacular" (ReBar), "The Awesome Cycle" (ACT Theatre), "NoSignal," and "WEST" (On The Boards). They've also had recurring weekend residencies at Cafe Nordo's Culinarium, ACT Theatre, Washington Hall, Theatre Off Jackson, and Town Hall Seattle.

It's your basic band setup:

guitar, bass, drums... trumpet, accordion... keys, banjo, saxophone, mandolin... theremin... clarinet... sometimes a glockenspiel... You know, the usual.

Don't worry, we've got a tech rider that lays it all out. (See below)
